Sparkling White Strawberry Sangria is a refreshing, bubbly sangria loaded with tons of fresh strawberries and a crisp white wine!
If there is one thing I miss while being pregnant is an occasionally cocktail. Don’t get me wrong, I am more than willing to give up a few things for this baby boy but hey, every now and then I crave a refreshing cocktail!
I fell in love with sangria a few years ago when the Mr and I started having our special date nights at a local tapas restaurant. This isn’t my first time singing the praises of this restaurant; remember those cumin aioli crispy potatoes and the prosciutto wrapped, chorizo stuffed dates (one of my top appetizers!)? Yup. All from the same restaurant.
Among their incredible food, they have incredible cocktails to go with. They are known for their sangria, both red and white are pretty stellar. I mean, how can you mess up fruit spiked with wine? Since I am a white wine gal, I always go for a pitcher of their white sangria, filled with oranges and strawberries.
With the dog days of summer upon us, I don’t think there is anything more refreshing than a chilled cocktail, or mocktail in my case these days! So when a craving for sangria hit last week, I turned to Fre Alcohol Removed Wines to help bring the authenticity to my sangria, just minus the alcohol. Mocktail for the wine!
Fre wines are a great alternative for people, like me who cannot or prefer to not consume alcohol and they make a fantastic base for mocktail recipes. They use a unique spinning process that removes alcohol while retaining the delicate fragrances and flavors of the wine. What is left is a fresh and delicious beverage with all the characteristic of premium wines but with less than .5% alcohol and a fraction of the calories!
So when I heard of Fre wines, I knew a mocktail was in order! All the flavors and deliciousness of a traditional white wine sangria, just minus the booze. Perfect for me these days! This drink couldn’t be any simpler to make either. While it tastes great if let to chill for a few hours or overnight, you still get a tasty beverage if you were to whip it up and sip!
The base is juicy strawberries and oranges mixed with a simple syrup, a sweetened water that I made with a stevia baking blend. Then add one bottle of Fre Chardonnay and let chill until ready to drink. When it’s party time, add lemon sparkling water, garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime wedges!
With a drink like that, I will gladly sip these all year long!
