Laugh Often. Eat Well.
The Scoop
With Salt and Wit is a blog devoted to uncomplicated cooking. You will find seasonal recipes that are easy to prepare, use minimal ingredients, and come with meal preparation tips. While I don’t focus on one specific diet, most of the recipes focus on allergy free cooking – gluten free, dairy free, egg free, etc – but all recipes remain healthy and are insanely delicious.
The Creator
I am a culinary trained chef that has found my calling through mishaps with my health and being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in 2012 and multiple food allergies in 2016. After many years of struggles, I take a hold of my health by not ‘treating’ my condition with another medicine, rather use fitness and food as my medicine. Through this rollercoaster of change, I have discovered one thing. I love creating recipes that taste just as good as the original while remaining healthy!
The History
My passion for cooking started in college when I started craving more down home, nutritious meals and frozen Lean Cuisine’s weren’t cutting it anymore. Upon graduating college and working in the real world, my itch to be in the kitchen was more than in the evenings whipping up dinner for my friends and family. So I enrolled in culinary school to only find out my love for cooking for was merely to entertain rather than work on the hot lines in evenings. After following blogs for years, I slowly started to realize, “I could do that!” With lots of back and forth conversations, my culinary school training and my passion for nutritious meals, I am ecstatic to have a piece of the web to call my own!
About Meal Prepping
Over the years, I have found a real knack for meal prepping. As my love of creatign wholesome meals and relying less on packaged foods, I started to make our own granola bars, hummus, energy bites, and oatmeal bakes to set us up for success for the week. Turns out, it makes our week less stressful and saves us a bit of money. Now, four years later, I am still preparing most of our snacks and dinner but have fell in love with it and love sharing my tips with friends and family. And now, I will share my secrets with you so you can make more nutritious choices, maybe save a buck or two and set your week up for success as well!
