Dark Chocolate Blueberry Whole Wheat Scones are chewy, filled with whole grains, chocolate and juicy blueberries!
Do you have that one food item that intimidates you? Scares you a bit because you think it’s impossible to make and will end up a disaster?
Well, I have quite a few. With most of them are in the baking realm. We all know I was not blessed with the baking skill. While I gawk over and over the delicious looking cookies on pinterest, whenever I venture into the kitchen, mine look less than stellar.
Depressing I tell ya. Because those cookies are tempting to me and this baby.
But you know another food item that has been on my ‘baking bucket list?’ Scones!
Ever since I worked in a coffee shop, I have had a special place in my heart for scones after I had my first bite of their mini vanilla bean scones. Sweet, tender and buttery. Perfection in every way.
For some reason, over the years, I thought they were way above my head. Out of my league. A bakery treat left to the professionals.
Well, that was until I conquered my fear and tackled these scones. And it was a good day! Bakery style scones right in my own home. Dreams do come true!
While I still daydream of those vanilla bean scones (next time…), fruit filled scones with decadent chocolate just may surpass them. So when I bake up a batch of these scones for Sunday brunch, we know it has to be a good day!
The base of these scones whole wheat flour are made with whole wheat flour so you are able to start your day with a nutritious treat. Then, the best part comes into play. Chocolate! But not ordinary chocolate; Brookside Dark Chocolate Blueberries! A smooth blueberry center draped in dark chocolate. When gently folded into the scones, they provide a fruity and sweet surprise when bit into.
I have been a fan of Brookside chocolates for years, as I loved to end my day on a sweet note with a few blueberry bites. A must in my books. And now, Brookside has several new varieties that are available exclusively at Target for those bigger cravings! Which I know all about with this pregnancy! This baby is going to love Mexican and chocolate!
Between the Blueberry & Cranberry Almond, to the Cranberry Almond, to the Mango Coconut and to the Summer Berry, I feel like my dessert choices just got a whole lot tougher. But with Target’s Cartwheel app, I am able to keep all of these chocolate treats on hand to suit whatever my cravings may be!

salt and cinnamon together. - Add the butter, mixing it by hand or with a pastry cutter, till the mixture resembles coarse meal.
