Spicy Basil Hummus is so delicious and with only 7 ingredients, it couldn’t be easier to make! Fresh basil, chickpeas and a touch of red pepper take this classic hummus up a few notches!
If you want to see the claws come out, pull out a game of Yahtzee.
Then my husband’s true colors will shine.
You see. Board games and such, are nothing new around our house. We love a good game of Life or to throw the dice to Farkle. Yes, I know, reading those words I realize I am sounding much closer to 80 than 30. But when date nights in become more regular than venturing out, you have to get creative. Because nothing makes this girl fall asleep faster than turning on a movie.
Oh, I love this part! Snoozeeeeeeee.
A couple of months ago, Dustin brought home an old family favorite of his: Yahtzee.
While he was a veteran to the game, I on the other hand, was a rookie. He politely showed me how to throw the dice and hope for a big straight, or the prized five of a kind. He gave me little tips and even mentioned the small straight I was about to overlook. Sweet guy, huh?
Well, the tides quickly turned as my rolls kept getting better and better. Extra Yahtzee here, large straight there. The only one not cheering? The hubs.
With each of my victorious games, Dustin’s ugly side started to rear its ugly head. Grunting. Lots of sighs and his own personal pity party. If I remember correctly, I believe I am up 11 games? I think at this point it’s not beginners luck.
Either way, I better take this luck with me to Vegas in September!
One thing we can both be excited about is hummus. Homemade hummus! We have quite the love affair. Take exhibit a, b, c, d, e….
While I have a special place for store bought hummus and the endless varieties, making hummus is honestly one of the easiest things to make. Really! And it is super customizable. I mean, if you can dream it, more than likely, it will be a hit with hummus. So let’s get mixing.
Since my basil plant is a bit out of control at this moment, I am finding myself throwing it in nearly every dish. Except for dessert. That’s just not my cup of tea. Gimme all the chocolate, peanut butter, and ice cream, please.
I am not a big fan of tahini and I find out my hummus still tastes delicious without it. But if you have a bottle of tahini in your pantry, feel free to add a tablespoon or two until it is creamy, dreamy and like you just want to dive on in!
I am thinking the winner of our evening Yahtzee game gets a big bowl of Spicy Basil Hummus….looks like the odds are in my favor!
