Honey Sriracha Hummus

I feel guilty.A sweet and spicy combo is the perfect pair in this Honey Sriracha Hummus that takes minutes to throw together!

I have neglected Sriracha for too long.  I thought it was only reserved for Asian foods. Or people who enjoy lighting their mouths on fire.

When I was younger, I was not an adventurous eater. What eight year olds palate was? My diet consisted of chicken fingers, with ketchup none the less, ranch dressing with a side salad (omg. gag.), ice cream “bowls”, and brown sugar pop tarts.  Yes, my mother did feed me a well balanced diet those are the foods that stuck out in memory and too this day, I still hold a special place in my heart for.  Except the ranch. That stuff I can do without.

But as I have aged, so have my taste buds. Nothing uncommon but one thing that I am thankful for while aging.

Honey Sriracha Hummus is not for the faint of heart. It is full on heat, super velvety and slightly sweet all in one bit. It is pure heaven. Especially when you are feeling a bit bi polar and unsure what you are craving. The flavors may sound odd, but Mr HIT and I couldn’t stop eating this. As in, we polished off this entire batch Valentine’s Day weekend.

No better way to say “I love you” than with some fire. Amiright?

 Craving more hummus?

Everything Bagel Hummus has all the flavors you love of those classic bagels but in a healthy, gluten free form! Creamy chickpeas mixed with toasted garlic, dried onions then sprinkled with sesame seeds and poppy seeds!

Everything Bagel Hummus

Have you ever made hummus? If not, you totally should. It takes only a few ingredients and takes mere seconds to whip together. Leaving you with an ultra creamy, so delicious, and oh so simple hummus. And bonus is that you can control the ingredients that go into it - think of the endless possibilities of flavors in front of you!  I have played around with the ingredients in hummus for quite some time, and this basic recipe I have found to be my favorite. Most hummus uses tahini to help build creaminess but I just don't really care for the taste of tahini. Honestly, I believe this version tastes way better!

I don't like setting my mouth on fire, but my husband does! Instead of dipping his veggies into hummus or any other kind of dip, he would simply put a line of sriracha on a carrot and broccoli and it eat. How strange, right?!

You are not the only one who took a while to experiment with Sriracha! My dad thought the same thing and now I put a bottle in his stocking each Christmas :) This hummus sounds amazing and I love spicy food!

I have a confession to make: I haven't yet tried sriracha anything..... I'm just not a big heat person! But this hummus looks so smooth and creamy -- I bet the spice pairs perfectly with it! Pinned :)

The foods I ate as a childhood are just as terrifying - Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls, Happy Meals, and (like you) brown sugar Pop Tarts. I think our tastes are much more refined now :) this hummus looks so good!!!

Hi Joey, I am not sure as I have never used dried and cooked chickpeas. If they are around the same size after they cook, then I would just use 1 1/2 cups per can requested in the recipe. So for this recipe, 3 cups cooked chickpeas. You may have to play around with the ratio, but I would guess it would be around there. Hope you enjoy it!

It is a personal preference as I don't really like the taste of tahini but to be a true hummus, I understand you have to use tahini but this is my version!
