can you use frozen ravioli?

Yes! I would suggest thawing first, or you can extend the cooking time if they are frozen. As well as covering the casserole with foil for the first 20 minutes, then uncover for the last 20-30 minutes, or until heated thru and the cheese is melted.

can I customize this easy baked pasta recipe?

Of course! Use your favorite ravioli flavor, such as sausage filled. Or even a pumpkin ravioli with an Alfredo would be too die for! You can add whichever cheese your family likes, just be sure it melts well!

can I make this baked ravioli ahead of time?

Yes! You can do one of two things. Prepare then store in the fridge for a day or two before baking. Cover with foil or an airtight lid then bake as normal. This would be a great meal idea for new moms!

Or, you can freeze after assembling as a healthy freezer meal! Make a double batch and place it in freezer-friendly baking dish. Then thaw out the night before you want to bake it.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups tomato and basil pasta sauce, or your favorite pasta sauce
  • 1 package (4-6 serving pkg) refrigerated spinach and mozzarella ravioli (or ravioli of choice), gluten free if needed
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1-10 ounce bag fresh baby spinach
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a greased 9x9 or baking dish, place 1 cup pasta sauce. Top with half of the ravioli, spinach and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers.
  3. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 30 minutes or until heated through and cheese is melted.

Notes

*If you wish to speed up the baking time to around 10-15 minutes, precook the ravioli for 5 minutes in boiling water if using fresh ravioli, longer for frozen. Ideally, you want to cook it a couple minutes less than what your package instructions say since it will continue to cook in the oven a bit.

First of all, let me say that this pasta dish looks wonderful! Yum! Secondly, I'm really stressed out about your over achievement. Christmas shopping?! Girl, you're just way too organized, but good for you! I'm currently thinking about kids' Halloween costumes and I thought I was ahead of the game. Hmmppff. LOL All kidding aside, I love the fact you're planning ahead. When that precious baby arrives, you'll certainly want your attention where it's most important. . .on your little one! Good luck!

Yay for being super organised over Christmas! I always start with the best intentions too, but it never turns out right and that's without me expecting a baby, so I can totally understand how you want to be snuggling your new bundle! This looks so glorious though and love that it's so easy with so few ingredients! :D
