Pretty sure it’s required to consume some form of sugar.

Even if you aren’t celebrating Valentine’s day, show yourself some love with chocolate.

And with wine and cookie dough.

Skinny Cookie Dough Dip | The Housewife in Training Files
I always have, and always will, choose cookie dough over the finished product. There is just something about stealing a scoop full and purposely leaving the spatula with a hefty amount of dough on it that is so…so naughty.

Luckily, Chocolate Covered Katie has saved me (and my hips) with her healthy cookie dough dip.  I made a few adjustments to her recipe, mostly reducing the sugar.  But don’t worry…this dip is a sweet as it gets.

This Skinny Cookie Dough Dip can practically be a health food. Garbanzo beans are the secret weapon.  With every recipe experiment, my fiance was my guinea pig. His reaction? Priceless. He was utterly confused as he thought I was feeding him hummus. Eyes light up…”cookie dough?!”  He says he is not a sweets guy, but this won him over.

Do something extra special for yourself today.  Because you deserve to celebrate and treat yourself.  You deserve to eat cookie dough for every meal!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chickpeas (drained and rinsed very well)
  • 1/8 tsp plus 1/16 tsp salt
  • tiny bit over 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup nut butter
  • 2 T Maple syrup
  • 1 dropper Sweet Leafs Vanilla Creme Stevia
  • 2 Tbsp Oats
  • Up to 1/4 cup almond milk, only if needed
  • 3 T mini chocolate chips
  • To serve: Strawberries, Graham Crackers

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender, except chocolate chips.
  2. Puree very well. May need to use a spatula to move mixture around. Add milk to help combine mixture if needed.
  3. Once pureed very well. Taste for sweetness. If you want it sweeter, add more maple or stevia.
  4. Transfer to mixing bowl and fold in chocolate chips. Serve with strawberries and graham crackers! The possibilities are endless on what to serve this delicious dip with...marshmallows, pretzels and apples would be great as well!

Hi, I tried this today! It is my first time using beans in a healthier dessert, and it sort of works for me. I am totally going against the healthy part and adding it to my bowl of cookies and cream ice cream for a snack. Thanks for the recipe!

I made this tonight! It was WAY too salty in my opinion. I also swapped honey for maple syrup and added a little brown sugar. I don't know if it's convincing enough to be cookie dough, but pretty good! I was worried it would taste like chickpeas but you can't even tell.

Could something else be used in place of the stevia? And, if so, in what amount? This looks so awesome - I can't wait to try!

Just use regular sugar and double the amount. But make sure to taste as you add so it doesn't end up too sweet! Enjoy!

Hi Cassondra! I have not tried it with honey but I would think it would work. It will have more flavor of honey and the consistency will be thicker as honey is so you just may need to add more milk to make it thinner. Let me know how it goes! Enjoy :)

I made this recipe last night... I made a little to much so I put it in the fridge. It turned bright green! Is that normal?? I'm not sure if it's okay to eat? Very odd... I think I'll be throwing the rest away.

Oh gosh! That has never happened to me and I have made this plenty of times with storing it in the fridge after hand. I can't say if it is safe to eat as I not know the exact ingredients you used. And you used the exact ingredients I listed above? I am sorry to hear that as that is definitely a first!
