Worlds of Fun Hosts All-American BBQ & Brew Festival

If you thought it wasn’t possible to have any more fun at an amusement park, All-American BBQ & Brew Festival is here to prove us all wrong.

Thanks to Worlds of Fun, the theme park’s BBQ & Brew Festival is back for another year. The annual summer event runs for one more weekend, through May 8. It features craft beer from breweries in Kansas City and nearby states, along with finger looking good barbecue from Worlds of Fun Executive Chef, Kevin Williams.

A $59.99 pass includes park admission and a BBQ & Brews Festival ticket. For one ticket, you receive one sample from each of the six breweries along with a barbecue pairing. Beer and barbecue…grown up’s milk and cookies. Right?

This past weekend, the hubs and I ventured out to the festival. It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon for a mid-day date for us! We sampled beers from Tallgrass Brewing from Manhattan, KS; my college stomping grounds! Along with Bur Oak (Columbia, MO), Nebraska Brewing (Papillion, NE), Defiance Brewing (Hays, KS) and local brews from KC Bier and Cinder Block. One I would go back for seconds for?
Not only was the beer tasting delicious that day, the food was right up there too. The chicken and waffles caught our eye early on and proved to be our winner. Pulled chicken, smothered in a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, topped with coleslaw and all stuffed into a good ol waffle cone. We both agree the saucy, creamy and crunch was genius.  Beyond the chicken, we devoured the pulled pork, spiced chicken wings, ribs and grilled shrimp.

One suggestion? Go for the thrill rides then devour all the barbecue and beer!

The fun doesn’t stop here though, Worlds of Fun’s summer is filled with plenty of other entertainment events! Such as the World Food & Wine Festival in June that I have my eye on!

I'm not really a beer fan myself, but the BBQ sure sounds amazing! And my husband would love both! Sounds fun!

Everything sounds like fun! Beer, BBQ and rides sound perfect for a gorgeous Saturday. I do agree with you though, I would ride the rides first then drink and eat. My stomach isn't as good as it used to be. ;)
