Frozen lime fruit bars are jazzed up by drizzling with melted sweet yogurt chips and salty and crunchy graham crackers
Quick, what’s the first thing that comes to mind when I say summer?!
Go! List em.
Endless ideas and possibilities run through my mind when I think of summertime…from family lake trips, to bike rides, to amusement parks, to family BBQ’s in the backyard. And all these have a few things in common but the one thing that sticks out in my mind is drool worthy food and a much needed way to cool off during the warm and sticky Midwest heat.
When I was little, our saving grace was the ringing of the ice cream man’s bell. As I sprinted out the front door, making sure to grab some cash before, I only hoped to not trip over my legs which were moving faster than I could run, but mostly to catch him before he turned off our street and out of site.
So when I was presented the idea of trying out Fruttare Fruit & Juice Bars, I couldn’t jump on the wagon fast enough! Everyone knows my love for ice cream and cold treats, so you can only imagine my excitement with trying out a new dessert. Like a lil girl given a tiara and sprinkles.
Fruttare Fruit & Juice Bars are jam-packed with real fruit, velvety milk, or refreshing juice. And not to mention the countless flavors; enough to never repeat a flavor for a week and half. That’s pretty good for someone with a short attention span. Of all the flavors, (10 to be exact), I was most excited to try the Lime, Strawberry & Milk & Pineapple! You can check out and find which flavor you are going to try first here.
When I first set out to my local Hy-Vee grocery store, I was just bouncing back and forth on which bars I was going to take home with me. I have a tendency to be rather indecisive on decisions such as these. As a foodie, we have high expectations and hope we fall completely head over heels with our new find. And avoiding the dreaded first taste as hopes drop with a less than mediocre flavor.
Luckily, as I trotted home with my new treats, I decided I couldn’t take the suspense any longer and found my way into the Lime and Pineapple (because I love everything and anything resembling margaritas and Pina coladas!). And let me tell you…they did not disappoint! With fresh lime flavor and creaminess, the bars were mind blowing. I am use to frozen treats that produce less than stellar, icy texture that just gives me brain freeze, rather than curbing my sweet tooth. But the bars are velvety and smooth. Every ice cream lover’s delight.
With summer BBQ’s approaching, I wanted a way to revamp the beloved ‘Ice Cream Bar’ with my new adorned treats, Fruttare Bars. The possibilities are endless as you lay out bowls filled with crushed Oreo’s, cookies, mini chocolate chips, toffee bits, sprinkles and graham crackers. And what is ice cream treats without chocolate?
I choose to dip the Lime Bars into melted yogurt chips then liberally cover them with crushed graham crackers for a fun twist on key lime pie. And the results were out of this world. Bright, tangy lime flavors mixed with creamy and sweet melted yogurt chips, then the crunch and saltiness from the graham crackers.
With summer upon u, be sure to check out Fruttare’s Fruit Bars on Facebook and at your local grocery store for a treat that is sure to beat the heat!

Yields 5
Ingredients
- 1 package Fruttare Fruit Bars, Lime
- 1 cup vanilla yogurt chips
- 2 sheets graham crackers, crushed
Instructions
- Remove fruit bars from freezer and let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. (This will ensure the bars are not completely frozen and the yogurt coating is able to stick to the bars.)
- In a double broiler, melt vanilla yogurt chips slowly; stirring occasionally, until completely melted and smooth.
- In a small bowl, add crushed graham crackers.
- Moving quickly, dip the fruit bars into the yogurt and then into the graham crackers. (The yogurt will harden quickly, so make sure bars are not completely frozen and move quickly to the graham crackers!)
