Cinnamon Sugar Sweet Potato Fries are cinnamon and sugar dusted and served with a homemade toasted marshmallow sauce! They are not your typical side of fries, rather a upgraded dessert!
Game days around our house are no joke.
If errands are to be ran, they must be done before noon. Must not miss kickoff.
It all starts with a hefty breakfast of over easy eggs, english muffins with a good lathering of almond butter, possibly bacon and bottomless cups of coffee. A good base is the key to bringing your game face.
So a month or so ago, Dustin and I were stopping by a burger joint in Lawrence, KS before the home opener for KU basketball. This little joint is know for their juicy burgers and their long list of dipping sauces. The one that caught my eye was the marshmallow sauce.
Em what?
It was a no brainer to get a double order of cinnamon sweet potato fries. We don’t share very well…Despite the cabernet ketchup, we both kept going back for the sweet stuff. I wanted to drink it. It was THAT good.
I immediately asked the bartender how they made it. Expecting a top secret recipe that I would have to fight out of him. To my disappointment, he said it couldn’t be any easier. Torched marshmallows + puree with some cream = pure bliss.
Upon my dreams being crushed of obtaining a top secret recipe, I will take the ease of this new addiction! I mean Alexia Sweet Potato Fries and marshmallows that I picked up at Walmart, these fries and sauce could be happening far too often. But I immediately thought, I knew I had to add this to our game day grub! We already devour sweet potato fries like they are going out of style. With the help of Alexia frozen fries, it takes the leg work out for me! We have been chowing down on their fries for quite some time and making an apperance every summer at our lake house for burger night. After a day on the water with a few cocktails, easy dinners are a must. Wholesome ingredients and spot on flavor have us coming back for more.
And because I couldn’t decide which fries to get…I went with three varieties of Alexia potatoes! Onion Rings because well. They are ah-mazing. And their healthy spin on french fries to go with our burger night! Just think of the possibilities of a french fry bar with these two and the sweet potato fries?! They are endless.
While heading out to the stadium with all the other crazy fans is fun once a season for me, I much prefer cheering and grubbing from home, homegating, if you will. We adorn our favorite colors, pour a chilled beer (or blood orange margarita for me…), whip up our favorite recipe for wings along with some sweet potato fries and enjoy the comfort of home while watching some ball. You can’t really complain when you can enjoy more than one game at once and get away with wearing sweats all day.
Hello perfection.
With Superbowl coming up, I am more ecstatic about the grub than I am about the game. Like you are surprised, right? Just to cook up some food that pleases my man and some of our friends makes me just as excited as seeing our favorite team score a touch down. I already have part of our menu created, cheesy snack mixes, our favorite sirloin chili and our new favorite spin on dessert.
How can you complain when you get vegetables for dessert?
Win win!
